Built around the shape of the wound, not the shape of a dressing.
Sheet dressings have to be cut and fitted. Gels donate moisture but have limited capacity to take fluid away. A powder does neither job by compromise — it goes where it is poured, into irregular geometry and depth, without trimming or shaping.
The matrix is magnesium phosphate. On contact with exudate the particles hydrate, liquid bridges form between them, and capillary forces hold them together as a conformable layer. The layer is lifted away at dressing change. Nothing is left behind to resorb.
Ekko8 also contains polyhexamethylene biguanide, or PHMB, a compound with a long history of antimicrobial use in marketed wound dressings.
Ekko8 is in development. With a Q1-2027 expected release date. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA, and no claims of safety or effectiveness are FDA approved yet.
